Keepsake Jewelry Cleaning and Storage
This guide is designed for keepsake jewelry and memorial rings made with ashes, hair, or opals, including rings in tungsten or black ceramic. Proper care helps preserve the surface finish and the long-term integrity of the inlay.
Cleaning (Gentle Routine)
Use a clean, dry microfiber cloth to remove dust and restore the surface finish.
If necessary, wipe with a slightly damp cloth using a small amount of mild, diluted soap, then dry immediately.
Never soak the ring or leave it submerged.
Avoid jewelry dips, polishing pastes, alcohol, acetone, and harsh chemicals.
Gentle, regular care preserves the clean finish and the clarity of what your ring carries.
Inlay Protection (Ashes, Hair, Opals)
Inlays are securely sealed but remain sensitive to chemical exposure. Avoid perfumes, solvents, and household cleaners. Remove the ring before cleaning, gardening, DIY work, or handling abrasive products.
Water, Pools and Spas
Avoid wearing the ring in the shower, bath, swimming pools, spas, or seawater. Prolonged moisture and chlorine can dull the finish and weaken the inlay over time.
Physical Activities and Impacts
Remove the ring during workouts, contact sports, or impact-heavy activities. Tungsten and black ceramic are highly scratch-resistant, but direct impacts can still damage the inlay or surface.
Storage (Best Practice)
Store the ring separately in a jewelry box or soft pouch, in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid contact with other jewelry to prevent micro-scratches. Display boxes are suitable for presentation, but long-term storage should always be dry and temperate.
Daily Habits
A quick wipe with a microfiber cloth helps maintain a clean and consistent finish.
