There are colors that seem to carry emotion before we even understand why.
A deep blue may bring to mind a sky, calm water, a familiar gaze, a particular moment… or simply that difficult-to-explain feeling that something precious is still somehow close.
This blue memorial ring with ashes was created around that feeling.
A deep, elegant black base, illuminated by opal reflections reminiscent of blue topaz, shifting gently as the light moves across the ring.
At the center, a fine line of memory rests with quiet restraint.
It does not try to dominate the creation.
Instead, it becomes its heart.
Around it, the blue reflections come alive.
Sometimes deeper.
Sometimes almost luminous.
As though the ring carried within it several different ways of remembering the same person.
That is what I especially love about this creation.
It has a true presence, yet it does not reveal its story to everyone who sees it.
That story belongs to the person who will receive it.
Only they will know why that line is there.
Only they will know what memories may return when their eyes meet those reflections.
A voice, perhaps.
A laugh.
A familiar expression.
Or simply an ordinary moment that now carries a value impossible to measure.
Whenever something this personal is entrusted to me, I remain deeply aware that I am not simply making a ring.
I am working around a story whose every detail I may never know, but whose importance I fully understand.
So nothing is rushed.
Every stage is given the time it needs.
The central line must remain fine and balanced.
The opal must retain its depth and brilliance.
And the entire piece must find that point where beauty never overshadows what the ring truly represents.
Because one day, this creation will leave my workshop.
And from that moment on, it will no longer belong to me at all.
It will become part of someone else’s everyday life.
It will be there on easier days.
On the days when absence returns without warning.
And perhaps in those moments when a single blue reflection is enough to bring back a presence the heart never truly stopped recognizing.
At Fetstan, this is where a creation takes on its deepest meaning for me.
When material, light, and memory finally become one.
